In 1988, with support from the Public Health Departments of Curaçao and Aruba, the laboratory became an officially recognized limited liability company (N.V.). This was the first time a private laboratory received such approval from the government.

Over the years, the laboratory continued to grow and expand its services across the island. Several collection centers were established in areas such as Santa Cruz, Oranjestad, San Nicolas, Pos Chiquito, Tanki Flip, Madiki, and Paradera. These centers made it easier for patients to access services close to home. Samples collected at these locations are safely transported to the main laboratory for analysis. Home sample collection was also introduced, providing essential support for patients who are unable to travel.

In 2003, the laboratory moved to its current location at De La Sallestraat 72 in Oranjestad. This modern facility is equipped with advanced technology, allowing for faster and more specialized testing. The environment was carefully designed to be comfortable and welcoming for all visitors.

Today, the laboratory serves a wide range of clients, including general practitioners, specialists, insurance companies, hotels, cruise ships, and private businesses. Services such as pre-employment testing and drug screening are also provided.

In 2004, new healthcare requirements were introduced by AZV, Aruba’s general health insurance provider. To continue serving the community, the laboratory began working toward ISO 15189 accreditation, an international standard for medical laboratories.

After years of dedication and hard work, the laboratory achieved ISO 15189 accreditation in March 2008 through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This milestone represented international recognition of the laboratory’s quality and standards, and ensured continued collaboration with AZV.

Since then, the laboratory has successfully maintained its accreditation through regular re-accreditations every two years, including the most recent period extending through 2026. This ongoing achievement reflects a strong and continuous commitment to quality, accuracy, and patient care.
